Privacy Policy

The short version: Tackle Box works on your computer and does not collect your data, and this web site does not track you. The details are below.

Tackle Box

• Your content stays on your computer. Text, files, images and other things you open or paste into a tool are processed locally. They are not uploaded to LogicalVue or anyone else by the app.
• No accounts, analytics or tracking. Tackle Box does not have sign-in, usage analytics, advertising or crash reporting, and it contacts LogicalVue servers only to check for updates, as described next.
• Update checks. Tackle Box can check whether a newer version is available. It downloads one small public file from logicalvue.com, at most once a day, and compares the version number on your computer. Nothing about you or your content is sent; like any web request, the request reveals your IP address, and it includes the app name, version number and platform (macOS, Windows or Linux), which our hosting provider may record in its server logs. Tackle Box never downloads or installs anything by itself: if there is a new version it tells you and offers a link. You can turn the automatic check off in the About window, and you can still check by hand from the Help menu.
• Things you ask for. Some tools talk to the network only when you use them. For example, the REST Client sends the requests you write to the addresses you choose, and those servers receive what you send.
• Camera and clipboard. The Barcodes tool uses the camera only while you are scanning, and does not save or send what it sees. The Clipboard Inspector reads the clipboard only when you ask it to, or while you have its Watch option turned on.
• Settings and license. Your preferences, favorites, recent tool and license key are stored in a settings file on your computer. Checking a license happens on your computer and does not need an internet connection. We also keep whether automatic update checks are on, when the last check ran and a version you chose to skip.

Buying a license

Purchases are handled by our payment partner. It collects the details needed to take payment and calculate tax, such as your name, email address, billing address and payment method. We never see or store your full card number.

We receive your name, email address, country and order details so we can send your license key, provide support and keep tax and accounting records. We keep these records for as long as we need to for those purposes and to meet legal requirements.

This web site

• The site is made of plain static pages. It does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.
• Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (such as IP address, browser and the pages requested) to run and secure the service.
• If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
• The site links to other sites, such as Mastodon. Their privacy practices are their own.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the web site, take payments and send email, and where the law requires it.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing paul@logicalvue.com. We may need to keep some order records for tax and legal reasons. Our software and web site are not directed at children.
